September 2026

If you work with PERA retirees who are on Medicare, significant changes to PERACare Medicare are coming for 2027, including a change in insurance carriers and a new plan option — the Moda Medicare Companion Plan. Full plan details, benefits and costs will be available beginning October 1.
For those enrolled in PERACare Medicare, this is a good time to ask: Is PERACare still my best option?
As a Medicare planning expert who is very familiar with PERACare, I can provide your clients with a no-cost, no-obligation second opinion focused on:
- Keeping their doctors
- Maintaining comparable or better coverage
- Identifying potential premium savings
- Does it makes sense to keep their spouse on PERACare Medicare
- Evaluating the quality and financial stability of the insurance carrier
I do have concerns about Moda Health’s limited Medicare footprint and lack of significant presence in the Medicare market, and believe clients considering this option should understand the company behind their coverage.
If PERACare Medicare is still the best fit, I’ll tell them that. If there’s a better option, I can help.
Have PERA retirees on Medicare in your client base? Feel free to connect us or share my information. Please also keep me in mind as a Medicare resource for PERA retirees approaching Medicare eligibility.
I’m happy to help your clients understand their options and determine what makes the most sense for them.
